Book Review: The Queen’s Rising

The Book: The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross

The Rating: 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Review:

“One day, a queen will rise…”

Brienna is an outsider, raised in a world far removed from her Maevan homeland.  Growing up, she tries to find her place in the southern states of Valenia, learning about the passions alongside her friends and passion sisters.  But she is always a little different  A little special… and as she studies, she discovers a skill which will prove to be both a blessing and a curse in the trials to come.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I first picked up this book, although I’d heard a lot of good things about it.  As it turns out, The Queen’s Rising was exactly the book I needed to get me out of a pretty dreadful reading slump!

It’s a delicious mix of fantasy and intrigue, politics and romance with a good dash of magic, all wrapped into a gorgeous and fascinating plot.  he story telling is completely immersive and the characters are well rounded, interesting and dynamic.  Even the cliff-hanger ending doesn’t take away from how good this book is.

I can’t wait for the sequel – The Queen’s Rebellion – which is coming out next year.

Have you read this book?  If so, what did you think of it?
