2019: A New Story Begins

Welcome to 2019, Faeries!

I hope you all had a joyous New Year’s celebration, wherever you are in the world.

As we say goodbye to 2018 and welcome in another year, many of us start to make resolutions and plans for the next twelve months.  This year, instead of making a list of goals that I’d like to achieve over the coming weeks, I’ve decided to take a leave out of one of my friend’s books and choose a “Word of the Year”.

For those of you who don’t know what this is (and I’ll admit, I was one of you until quite recently) a Word of the Year is essentially a word that you’d like to live up to; a word to strive towards; a word to focus on in all that you do and to lead your life by.  This word becomes your goal, in a sense.

Choosing my word proved quite tricky, and I spend several weeks trying to decide what I actually want to do over the next year.

I want to work more on my writing.  I want to save up to buy a house.  I want to read more of the books on my TBR.  I want to make memories with my family and friends.  I want to lose weight.

All of these goals are ambitious, and are likely to take me more than a year to achieve!  And that’s when my word came to me.

It’s a strange word, at first.  But for me, if I can make progress in all of my goals this year – and I mean proper progress, not just the bare minimum – then that will be a great way to spend my year.

Making progress on my goals means that, while I don’t have a particular end point in sight, I have a map that I can follow to get there.  And it doesn’t limit me to just the goals above – there are so many other things that I would like to do!

So there you have it – my goal for 2019.  The story of this year has begun, and it has twelve blank chapters for us all to write.  I can’t wait to see what this year brings, and I wish you all love, laughter and joy in 2019!

Tell me what you’re hoping to achieve in 2019 in the comments!
