YALC 2019 – My Reading List

Hello Faeries!

Are you ready for the Young Adult Literature Convention yet?

If you’re anything like me, then you’ve already looked at the YALC schedule and worked out exactly which of the many wonderful authors you’re absolutely desperate to meet! Now I have a list of books by said authors that I need to read before the end of July.

Let me say quickly that you absolutely don’t have to read an author’s book before you meet them at YALC – no one is expecting you to do this! But the following books have been on my TBR pile for a while anyway, so I thought I might as well get them read now and then I can gush about how amazing they are when I meet their writers!!

So, without further ado, here are the books that I’m hoping to read over the next month in preparation for YALC 2019!

SKY IN THE DEEP by Adrienne Young
I’ve heard so, so many good things about this book, it’s unreal!  I love Viking retellings, so I was already really excited to read this book.  When I heard that Adrienne was coming to YALC, I knew I had to bump Sky in the Deep up my reading list.  It sounds like it’s going to be such an adventure, and I can’t wait!

I’ve had my eye on this book for a while, and was super lucky that one of my lovely friends bought me a copy for my birthday. One of the main characters is called Constance, so of course I had to read it!  We Are Blood And Thunder sounds like an amazing YA fantasy and I’m really excited to see how good it is!

Lots of my friends have read and loved this book, which I have to admit was a complete cover buy for me!  But If my friends loved it, then I’m reasonably sure that I’m going to love Shadowscent as well (I’m lucky that my friends and I have a fairly similar taste in books)! Plus, the premise sounds fascinating!

Holly Bourne is easily one of my favourite contemporary authors.  I picked up Are We All Lemmings And Snowflakes? at YALC last year and frankly I can’t believe I haven’t read it yet!  I’m definitely looking forward to it, and can’t wait to talk to Holly about it at YALC!

THE LAST NAMSARA by Kristen Cicciarelli
I’ve had this book on my shelves for so, so long!  It’s embarrassing really.  Especially as The Last Namsara is about dragons, and I love books about dragons!  I’m really hoping to read this book before YALC and hopefully start the second book in the series as well – fingers crossed!

Those are the top give books that I’m hoping to read before YALC!  I’ve managed to get a head start already by reading Viper, Vicious and Vengeful which I’m pretty happy about!

Which books are you hoping to read before YALC?  Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, Faeries! x
