Hello Faeries – I’m back!
It’s been a while since I posted anything on my blog. Life has had a habit over the last few months of getting in the way, and I’ve also lacked a bit of inspiration if I’m perfectly honest.
But 2020 will be a better year for blogging, so I’m going to kick start it with a post on New Years Eve! And what better post to write than to go through my favourite reads of 2019?
2019 has seen some absolutely AMAZING books being published, so trying to narrow my list down to just five was pretty tricky! So, without further ado, let’s get to it!
WE HUNT THE FLAME by Hafsah Faizal
If you know me at all, you know I’ve been shouting about this book for absolutely ages! And that’s because it’s a simply stunning debut by a ridiculously talented author! This book should definitely be on your TBR list, especially as the sequel We Free The Stars is due to be published next summer! You can check out my full review here.
VIPER by Bex Hogan
I didn’t realise how much I needed a swashbuckling pirate adventure until I read this wonderful book! Bex has created a fabulous world full of feisty characters, dastardly pirates and magic and it’s due to be expanded even more when the sequel, Venom, publishes next year! I simply cannot wait! And guess what? I reviewed Viper earlier this year!
SERPENT & DOVE by Shelby Mahurin
Another debut, and another cracker of a book. This one came out of nowhere and completely blew my mind. It’s got witches, knights, forbidden love and a sassy heroine who completely steals your heart. I thought this was going to be a stand alone (which would have been great) but then I found out there would be a second book, which is better as I need more stories from this world! I go into more detail in my review.
SKY IN THE DEEP by Adrienne Young
I joined the party for this book pretty late on, but I’m so glad that I read it this year! Sky In The Deep is an absolutely brilliant read – a cross between historical and fantasy, with a carefully woven world and story and characters that you really root for. I’m so excited to see what Adrienne has in store for us in 2020! Have a look at my review here.
A HEART SO FIERCE AND BROKEN by Brigid Kemmerer
Yes, this is a 2020 release (it’s out next month!) but I was lucky enough to receive an ARC so I 100% had to add it to my list of top 2019 reads! Last year I fell in love with A Curse So Dark And Lonely, the first book in the series which was a magical Beauty and the Beast retelling. In AHSFAB, Brigid has expanded the world and introduced new characters as well as bringing back and developing some old favourites. This book is one you do NOT want to miss! I’ll be posting my review closer to publication…
So there we go – my top 5 reads of 2019! I’ve been so lucky with my reading this year, as pretty much all the books I’ve read have been fabulous! If you’re interested in my other reads, check out my Goodreads profile!
And now, time to sign off for the decade. I wish you all health, happiness and good reading in 2020!!
