Book Review: Bone Crier’s Moon

The Book: Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie

The Rating: 5🌟

The Review:

“You’re not missing from me. I’m not missing from you.”

Before I start, let me say a huge thank you to the team at Harper360. First of all, for sending me an ARC of one of my most anticipated 2020 releases. And second, for sending me a book which has successfully got me out of my month long reading slump!

This book is quite simply fantastic, and exactly what I needed to pick up at the moment. It’s escapist and dangerous and romantic and everything you need from a book.

The world building and mythology were probably my favourite parts of Bone Crier’s Moon – Kathryn has done an amazing job of creating a world that is completely absorbing! I loved learning about the world of the Leuress, whose job it is to ferry souls from this world to the afterlife. The mythology that has been created is beautiful, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how that develops in the next book!

I also adored the sisterhood between Ailesse and Sabine. Ailesse is our main heroine: she’s fierce, headstrong and brave. Sabine, her best friend, is more quiet and reserved, but is fiercely loyal to Ailesse. The two of them will genuinely do anything to keep the other safe, and that relationship was so beautiful to read. I genuinely hope we get to see even more interaction between these two in the second book!

Then, of course, we have Bastien. Bastien has been through a lot in his short life, and has a very set view of the world which made me quite wary of him at the beginning of the story. But as I read more and spent more time with his character, he developed and grew which I really enjoyed reading! I love seeing a character’s thoughts change as they’re faced with different scenarios throughout a story, and that’s exactly what happened with Bastien.

I absolutely adored this story, and I can’t wait for the sequel! The next twelve months are going to be very, very long as I wait to spend more time with this wonderful characters in this gorgeous world!

Bone Crier’s Moon is set for release on 10th March 2020.
