Since I’ve started a blog about books, I thought it might be nice to tell you a little bit about myself. Let’s begin…
I’m Connie, and I’m a 27 year old book dragon from the East of England. There aren’t many mountains here for me to hole up in with my book hoard, but I’ve found myself a comfy little house on the edge of the Fens to call home. Perhaps I’m a water dragon?
I’ve been a reader for pretty much my entire life, thanks mainly to my parents love of books. They are definitely the ones who got me into reading, but I don’t think they ever anticipated that I would become quite so obsessed with them! I’d read the whole of The Chronicles of Narnia by the time I was 8, along with Alice in Wonderland and Black Beauty and I’d made a good start on the Harry Potter books too.
Reading was my escape. As an only child, it was where I made some of my best friends. My dad spent a lot of time in the hospital when I was growing up (cancer does that to a person) and so books were my way of escaping from the real world for a little while, and sometimes I helped him escape too. One of my earliest memories is of reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to my dad whilst he was in the hospital. It brought us all a little joy.
Now, I still read books to escape, but I also read them to learn and to process what’s going on in my life. Books are very useful for that! I’ve also started telling my own stories, though you may need to wait a while before I share any of those with you.
So there you go, just a little bit of backstory from me. I hope you’ll enjoy my blog, and maybe give my posts a bit of love.
Happy Reading, Faeries! x
